In this edition of Yogis Uncovered, we sit down with CC, one of our longtime True Naked Yoginis. CC brings a unique blend of creativity and wanderlust to everything she does. As a freelance model, photographer, and passionate yogi, she has explored the intersection of movement, nudity, and self-expression through both her lens and body. In our conversation, CC opens up about her love for travel, her journey into yoga, and her approach to self-care, all while sharing surprising facts.

I came from a family that was just like, okay, you have a body and you’re allowed to live in your body, so do what you want in your body. As a nature lover being naked has felt extremely natural.

Hi, my name is Cecily Flight! I live in Santa Monica, California and I’m originally from West Virginia.

What was it like growing up in West Virginia?

I was encompassed by a lot of nature and community, and a lot of river swimming, but I knew at some point I just had to leave and grow, so that’s why I’m in California.

What do you do for work?

I am currently a freelance model and photographer. Typically I try to shoot all 35 millimeter film with my friends or other humans who are really passionate about expression in front of the camera and exploring space and human form together.

How did you get into yoga?

I have always been into movement and working out, and in college yoga was just something that my friends were doing. I wasn’t quite as committed to it as I have become over the past four or five years but I kind of just fell into it by being into movement and working out in general. Overall I think that I’ve probably been practicing yoga for about 10 years.

Do you have a favorite yoga pose?

That is a hard one. I think that my favorite pose would have to be Crescent. It works out and stretches a lot of my favorite parts of the body and just feels really great.

What do you do for fun outside of work?

I love cooking and swimming and just trying to get active as much as possible. Walking, biking, hanging with friends. Just very wholesome stuff, I’d say. I’m not a big partier but I do love taking a day to hang out with friends on the beach or go on a hike or even just sit with a friend at coffee and really take in those small moments with the people that I love.

What’s something interesting about you that most people don’t know?

I know how to read arabic. I was super interested in the Middle East when I was in college. I was an International Studies major and I decided it would be really awesome to go to Morocco and live for one year, so I did. With already having learned a bit of French I just wanted to make that intersection with Arabic, so I started studying Arabic, although the Moroccan dialect is very different from the main one. I can speak a bit of both but definitely read the script.

What’s your favorite food?

One of my favorite meals (I don’t eat this often because it’s so heavy) is cacio e pepe, an Italian dish that’s kind of peppery and it’s just so good when it is made really well. A favorite dessert of mine is Knafeh, which is a Middle Eastern dessert that’s savory, sweet, cheesy, kind of pistachio-ey, hot syrupy type of thing. Try it, I swear it’s so good

How did you become so comfortable being nude in front of other people?

I didn’t necessarily grow up with it but I didn’t grow up without it. I think it was just really natural. I came from a family that was just like, okay, you have a body and you’re allowed to live in your body, so do what you want in your body. I think maybe in college when I got more into photography, that’s when I started exploring modeling naked. As a nature lover being naked has felt extremely natural.

What are some of your favorite self-care practices?

Some of my favorite self-care practices revolve around relaxing with a good book, maybe some coffee, or maybe wine depending on the time of the day. But I just really love to be alone with myself and have something to read that either teaches me something, makes me feel something, or takes me on an adventure to a different place or country. That’s the best self-care routine that I have aside from all the other things - we can journal and take the bath and eat the good food, but I do those things and I think reading stands out as the one thing that is the truest form of self-care for myself.
