In this edition of Yogis Uncovered, we sat down with Indi, who you might recognize from her programs such as the Five Day Flexibility Series and Qigong for Calming & Grounding the Mind. Join us as we get a deeper look into her personality and her journey to being a creative Jane-of-all-trades in LA.

I don’t have to deal with washing dirty clothes after [laughter]. It’s more freeing, just totally focused on your body and the poses.

I’m Indi and I live in Highland Park in LA right now. I’m from Phoenix, Arizona. I left part of my heart in Seattle though. But I’m happy to be in LA now.

What brought you to LA?

Love brought me to LA. I met a boy at Burning Man and decided to be spontaneous and follow my heart and come out here so I could see him.

What do you do for work?

I’m mostly modeling but I also am a photo editor and I do photography too.

How long have you been doing yoga?

It’s been a while because of my dad, he was an instructor when I was little. I remember us teasing him for the weird clothing choices he made when he was a yoga instructor. He would have us do hot yoga classes with him occasionally. So I’ve been doing it for 15 years.

How does naked yoga compare to clothed yoga?

I don’t have to deal with washing dirty clothes after. [Laughing] It’s more freeing, just totally focused on your body and the poses.

What’s your favorite food?

It’s hard because I really love food. I feel like I really love a good dim sum dumpling. It’s really hard to find vegan ones, but I did find some vegan xiao long bao dumplings from a food truck at one of the vegan food events here in LA and it was so good. I also really love pad kee mow type noodles.

If you could have any superpower what would it be and how would you use it?

I think I deserve the superpower to slow down time while everybody else is going at the same speed just so I can get more stuff done and I can share more things with everybody because there isn’t enough time in the world for me to do all the creative things that I really want to do.

If you wrote a book about your career, what would this chapter be called?

If I wrote a book about my career, I think it would be called “Serendipity” because I’ve just been kind of going where my heart takes me or where the flow of things takes me. I take whatever opportunities have naturally come my way because I don’t have any help from anybody else. It’s just been the universe throwing me opportunities.

What was your first job and how did it end?

My first job technically was at Subway. I was a sandwich artist. It was just a summer job while I was back home from my freshman year of college. A month in, the manager realized the school I went to was in a different city and she stopped scheduling me. So that was the end of my sandwich-making days. I got carpal tunnel from making sandwiches. I don’t think I’ll go back to that anytime soon.
