Embracing Authenticity Through Naked Yoga: Tracy’s Journey of Self-Love, Healing, and Empowerment
Tracy’s Story
Tracy credits naked yoga for helping her embrace her true, authentic self.
For many, yoga is a journey toward healing, strength, and self-connection, but for Tracy, it became much more than that. It became a path toward embracing authenticity, healing from past injuries, and cultivating deep self-love. This is Tracy’s story of how naked yoga not only supported physical healing but also helped her embrace her true, authentic self.
“Embrace your authentic self. No matter who you are, no matter what your body shape is, no matter your athletic ability. Yoga is beautiful and wonderful. It does not ask you to be perfect. It only asks that you show up.”
The Beginning of Tracy’s Yoga Journey
Tracy’s journey into yoga was unique and didn’t follow the typical path many people take when starting a yoga practice. “Before the world of streaming, there was an infomercial selling CDs for a workout program called P90. I bought it,” Tracy recalls. The program featured a brief introduction to yoga, but it wasn’t until she moved on to its more advanced version that she truly started to connect with the practice, as it featured an intense 90-minute yoga module.
“What [the creator of the program] said really stuck with me: ‘I can do things at my age, not because I can do a lot of pull-ups or lift a lot of weight, but because I do yoga.’” This powerful realization set Tracy on the path toward exploring yoga deeper.

Discovering True Naked Yoga
Living in a rural area meant that Tracy didn’t have easy access to in-person yoga classes, so she began to explore online options. “The nearest in-person class is 45 plus minutes away,” Tracy explains. She started by buying DVDs and later turned to YouTube for variety, discovering free classes by popular instructors. It wasn’t until she stumbled upon a free naked yoga video that her journey took a new turn. “I remember reading about a girl who took a coed naked yoga class in NYC. She was nervous at first, but by the end, she felt invigorated. That really piqued my curiosity,” Tracy shares. After digging deeper online, she discovered True Naked Yoga and felt drawn to its non-sexual approach. “Yoga is meant to be a moving meditation, a connection of mind, body, and spirit—not an outlet for sexual release,” she says, explaining why she found True Naked Yoga’s approach so compelling.

The Liberation of Naked Yoga
The experience of practicing yoga naked in the comfort of her own living room has had a profound impact on Tracy’s life. Without the constraints of clothing, she felt a deep sense of freedom and connection to her body. “Being naked in my own living room is liberating. Doing poses without the resistance of clothing allows me to really connect with my body,” she shares. This new layer of practice allowed her to focus on what her body was telling her, particularly when it came to aches and pains that had accumulated over time.
This freedom has allowed Tracy to heal physically, especially after a taekwondo injury. “At first, I could hardly do child’s pose without a lot of pain. But slowly, over time, doing TNY video classes, it got better.” Tracy believes that yoga has allowed her to continue to feel strong and youthful, even as she gets older. “It’s yoga that is the reason I can do things at my age—not the number of pull-ups or the amount of weight I can lift,” she reflects.
Yoga and the Journey of Self-Acceptance
Naked yoga has been key to Tracy’s journey of self-acceptance.
Yoga has been an essential part of Tracy’s personal journey toward self-acceptance, especially as she navigates her transgender identity. “I almost lost everything,” she recalls, describing the emotional challenges she faced when coming out to her wife. Despite the obstacles, Tracy’s relationship with her wife has survived and grown stronger, thanks to love, perseverance, and support. “Yoga has been a huge part of my life,” she shares, explaining how it has helped her embrace her true, authentic self. “Doing yoga naked allows me to really connect with my soul,” she says, describing how the practice has helped her feel grounded and centered in her identity. Yoga has allowed Tracy to step into her power and embrace the beauty of her own journey. “Every time you step on the mat, you set your intentions. Embrace authenticity, breathe in positive energy, breathe out negativity,” she advises, reflecting on the healing power of yoga in her life.
Overcoming Insecurities and Embracing Nudity
Tracy also enjoys rock climbing.
Although Tracy doesn’t feel insecure about nudity in general, she acknowledges that it’s not something that’s commonly practiced in her community. “I don’t live where it’s common, so I don’t venture out into public nude,” she explains. However, Tracy has embraced nudity in her own private space, where she feels free to connect with nature and her body. “I love to feel the sun on my body. A warm, gentle rain on your naked body feels like it cleanses the soul,” she says, reflecting on the joy she finds in practicing yoga naked and connecting with the natural world.
Incorporating Yoga into Everyday Life
Tracy’s yoga practice has become a staple in her daily routine. Even with a busy schedule, she manages to find time for shorter yoga sessions. “I like to wake up in the morning, take a shower, then do a quick program. It sets the tone for the day,” she shares. Yoga has also provided Tracy with the opportunity to take part in retreats and in-person classes, which have further enriched her practice. One of her most memorable experiences was a full-day retreat that included a morning yoga session, walking meditation, and time spent creating a mandala with nature. “It has been through the practice of yoga that I have been able to embrace my authentic self,” she reflects, showing how yoga has helped her connect with her inner truth.
The True Naked Yoga Experience
Though Tracy enjoys many of the True Naked Yoga classes, the one that started it all remains her favorite. “My favorite one is probably the free video I found with Nikki all those years ago, because that’s what started this incredible journey of self-love and acceptance,” she shares. This first class ignited her passion for yoga and helped her develop a deeper appreciation for her body, regardless of shape or size. “Yoga does not ask you to be perfect. It only asks that you show up,” Tracy says, emphasizing the importance of embracing yourself as you are.
Advice for Beginners
Tracy’s advice for anyone starting out on their naked yoga journey is simple yet powerful. “Embrace your authentic self. No matter who you are, no matter what your body shape is, no matter your athletic ability,” she encourages. Yoga is about showing up and being present, not about achieving perfection. “Yoga is beautiful and wonderful. It does not ask you to be perfect. It only asks that you show up.”
